The Hornell common council is sending a resolution to Albany about AIM funding.
Mayor John Buckley says there has not been an increase in AIM funding in 15 years.
The mayor’s secretary, Amy Patrick is resigning from being the Hornell City Hall Clerk. She will continue on as secretary. Holly Snyder was voted in by the council as the new clerk and registrar of vital statistics. Snyder is also now the marriage officer.
Also. A bond resolution was passed by the Common Council for the new fire engine being bought from a company in Florida. It’s a $750,000 bond. It’s replacing a 20 year old pumper. There is another pumper on order. It will be in hornell by mid December.
Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray says, the HPD is buying two new unmarked cars. One reason for buying an unmarked car is, an erratic driver is reported to have rammed into Sgt. Police Investigator Tom Aini’s unmarked vehicle, as Aini was blocking her from driving any further in the condition she was in. The other unmarked car which is being replaced, had aged out.
The teamsters contract has been approved by the council as well. This is a raise for the DPW workers.
Four percent for the first year which is this year Three percent for 2025 Three and half percent for 2026.
