The mayor of Bath, put out a statement about Bath crime last night. According to Bath Mayor Michael Sweet, 65 people have been arrested this year so far, who were staying at some of the local hotels and motels in that area. “The Village of Bath has been the dumping grounds for Steuben County DSS and parolees, and we are no longer willing to tolerate this situation,” said Sweet in his post on social media. “I assure you that we will no longer accept this situation in our community. We should all feel safe anywhere and at any time in this community.”
The mayor says he got these arrest numbers from Bath Police Chief Don Lewis. The mayor also says he spoke with County Chairwoman Kelly Fitzpatrick and that she has agreed to meet with him to explore potential solutions.
