From Hornell School Superintendent Jeremy Palotti: “Wednesday night, the BOE approve the budget that will go out to the public next month for vote. We are under the tax cap with a proposed 2.97% increase on the levy. The budget to budget is up and is primarily attributed to debt service (which we get state aid on), increases in health insurance, and increases in BOCES services. The property purchase is unique this year and it should be clear that the funds from this come from a reserve the district and there are no costs to the community or in the budget for next year that are impacted by this. Enrollment is up from the prior year, which helps us with state aid as our aid is slated to see a nice increase over last year as a result.”
