Canisteo’s Proposed E-Bike Law And A Possible Flood Prevention Study

May 13, 2026

Canisteo Mayor Rich McInroy says the Army Corps of Engineers wants $550,000 from the Canisteo village hall to do a study on the levee. Mcinroy says he is asking Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski and State Senator Tom O’Mara to get the Department of Environmental Conservationto pay for this study instead.

Canisteo Village Hall is having a public hearing on June 9 at 650pm about the Village Board’s proposed Ebike law. The Village Board is using the new Hornell law on Ebikes so they can have a new law on this issue. Mayor McInroy says the only difference is between the Hornell law and the proposed law, which they want to pass in Canisteo, is that Canisteo won’t require a helmet for those on ebikes.
