Palmesano’s Doorways To Donation Act

June 6, 2026

FROM ASSEMBLYMAAN PALMESANO: Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) is celebrating the passage of the Doorways to Donation Act which will increase organ donations across New York. Specifically, this proposal which Palmesano co-sponsored will allow New Yorkers to register for the Donate Life program while filing their taxes electronically. Palmesano says allowing a streamlined sign-up process will encourage more people to enroll and increase the state’s donation rate. “I am so proud to see this bill pass the Assembly. This issue is personal to me; I was lucky enough to donate a kidney to my sister Teresa. I know New Yorkers are good people, and the more opportunities we give them to say yes to being an organ donor, the more they will say yes. Organ donation is not a political issue, and I’m glad to see this bill pass in a bipartisan fashion. This will truly open doorways to donations to help save the lives of New Yorkers,” Palmesano said.
