The County Chair Weighs In On The Fremont Wind Project

October 2, 2026

Steuben County Legislative Chairwoman Kelly Fitzpatrick has sent a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul. In the letter, the County Legislative Chair said that the wind turbines in Fremont were causing some residents there, some health problems. The symptoms reported included things like sleep disturbance, fatigue and ear pain and pressure. Fitzpatrick also says, the height of the wind turbines and the distance of the turbines from other people’s property, violate the Fremont Wind Law. She also noted that the current wind turbines are 650 feet high and the wind law in Fremont, calls for them to be 500 feet high.

We reached out to the governor’s office and did not hear back from them.
