ACADEMIC ALL STARS BEGIN THEIR 2026 SEASON
STEUBEN COUNTY- Did you know that the correct symbol for an atom of Manganese is Mn?

If you did, then you would have been in good company on Monday night. Questions like this highlighted the kickoff of the 2026 Academic All-Stars season. Area students squared off during their opening night of competition. The Large School division match ended with Corning Painted-Post coming out on top of Bath 45–28. Hornell had a bye for the first week. The first matches in the Medium-Large School division saw Canisteo-Greenwood secure a solid victory over Campbell-Savona 53-17. Naples topped Addison with a score of 24 – 3. Arkport defeated Prattsburgh 29 – 1 in the Medium-Small School division, and Alfred-Almond started the season with a strong win over Hammondsport 70 – 39. In the Small School division J-T bested Avoca 40 – 13, and Canaseraga defeated Bradford in a well fought 46–31 matchup. Come on out and see the excitement for yourselves next Monday night. Matches will take place at Corning-Painted Post, Addison, Arkport, and Avoca Central Schools starting at 6:15.
