The second week of Academic All-Stars competition featured some tight matches as well as the first shut out of the season. Bath had a bye in the Large School Division, however Corning Painted-Post was able to shut out Hornell with a score of 37 – 0. Hornell’s valiant effort was hindered by some tricky Buzzer Round questions which did not pay off for them.
In the Medium-Large School Division Naples was able to best Campbell-Savona 53 – 30. The second match saw Canisteo-Greenwood topping Addison 52 – 43. Alfred-Almond continued their strong start with a victory over Prattsburgh 53 – 19 in the Medium-Small School Division, while Hammondsport bested Arkport 58 – 30.
In the Small School Division J-T defeated Bradford in a close match 35 – 31, and Canaseraga beat Avoca 56 – 23. There will be no matches next week due to the Winter Break for area schools, however competition will pick up again on February 23 with matches in Hornell, Naples, Prattsburgh, and J-T.
