Alfred Police Chief Griffith: How We Found That Big Bag Of Heroin

April 4, 2017

ALFRED, NY – Alfred Village Police Chief Paul Griffith has released more information about how the large amount of heroin (one and a half pounds worth) was found recently in Alfred this past Saturday:

While out on proactive patrol of the Village of Alfred, Officer were patrolling South Main Street. Officers observed a plastic package with duct tape in the roadway. Officer retrieved the package and took it back to the Alfred PD where it was determined by Narcotics Identifying System (NIK) to be 1.5 lbs of Heroin. At this time, our agency believes that the Heroin found was not intended for distribution in Alfred. Alfred remains to have a low instance of Heroin related cases and our Agency also believes that this not a danger to the community. We do ask if any person has any information to contact the Alfred Police Department at 607-587-8877.
