ALFRED, NY, 1 – New honors, new partnerships, and new construction gave Alfred State (ASC) plenty to cheer for in 2025.
Carnegie and US News & World Reports highlighted Alfred State in their annual rankings. Carnegie gave ASC a No. 1 ranking for career-readiness with applied learning and for offering a combination of high student access with exceptional graduate earnings while US News highlighted the college as #1 in the North for Undergraduate Teaching excellence and #1 SUNY for Least Student Debt.
In early 2025, Alfred State announced that they would take over the operation of the landmark Collegiate Restaurant. After a summer of renovations, SUNY Chancellor John King and local politicians joined Alfred State administration for the official ribbon cutting for the restaurant to signify the reopening.
During the fall semester, a pair of academic partnerships with community colleges opened seamless doors for students at SUNY Niagara and Jefferson Community College. New partnerships to support first generation students and a new car share program through Enterprise Mobility were also started.
Alfred State athletes celebrated a pair of new partnerships in 2025. ASC and Alfred University announced and started the Alfred Cup competition and the athletic department announced that student-athletes will compete in the SUNYAC starting in Fall 2026.
Improvements through investment in construction projects were highlighted by two major projects. The Agriculture Science Building project is in full swing with noticeable changes taking place daily while ground was broken on the Truck and Diesel Expansion project. Construction in the Pioneer Center started this fall, investments in new technology in classrooms and labs, and upgrades within residence halls continued.
Alfred State is excited to continue momentum into 2026.
