CUBA, NY – The Olean Times Herald reports that a Cuba Lake man died Saturday, from falling through the ice there. “Two men were pulled from the lake by someone on shore who had seen them go through the ice, according to Cuba Fire Chief Justin Sweet,” the Olean Times Herald reports. “Cuba Fire Department and EMS ice rescue personnel responded to a 911 call. One man, identified by sources as Daniel Whitford, suffered cardiac arrest and was being administered CPR by someone at the scene as Cuba Police and firefighters arrived. Both men were transported to Olean General Hospital, where Whitford was pronounced deceased. The other man has not been identified.”
