Angeline “Angie” (Cartella) Eason, of Hornell

  HORNELL-Angeline H. “Angie” (Cartella) Eason, 85, formerly of Holly Terrace at Edgeview Estates, passed away Thursday morning (March 31, 2016)  at Hornell Gardens, where she has resided since August of 2014.

Born in Hornell on March 27, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Marino Cartella. On May 5, 1956 she was married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell to Robert M. “Chief” Eason who passed away on Nov. 10, 2006 after 50 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her sister, Mary Andrezzi and her brother, Peter Cartella.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Angie was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1949 and was employed by the former Corbin Woodworking in Hornell before she began her employment as a caregiver at the Hornell Children’s Home where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Angie” ; she retired in 2001 at the age of 70.

Angie was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was also a member of the AZB Sorority and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canisteo American Legion Post No. 846.

She will be remembered for being a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who loved spending time with her family; she was especially well known for her annual “Italian Night” that she hosted. An excellent cook, Angie enjoyed camping and crocheting; throughout the years she crocheted many beautiful blankets for her family.

Her devoted family includes her daughter, Karen Meyers (Steve Sampson) of Hornell; her three sons, Robert (Susie) Eason of Rochester, Daniel (Mary) Eason of Alfred Station and Paul (Deborah) Eason of Canisteo; her 11 grandchildren, Bobby, Kevin, Tracy (Matthew) Flett, Eric (Brianne) Eason, Adam (Jackie) Eason, Austin and Colin Eason, Brian Meyers, Mark (Katie) Jersey, Alexis (Andy) Barron and Derek (Kari) Jersey; her seven great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Rose Conine and Josie Brown both of Hornell; her three brothers, Julio (Nancy) Cartella, Carl (Mary) Cartella and Francis “Lou” (Beth) Cartella all of Hornell; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Angeline H. “Angie” (Cartella) Eason.

Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 3 p.m. Sunday with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in the Bath National Cemetery.
