ARKPORT, NY – Word is, that there are contracts have been and are being signed to put up solar farms in the Arkport area. Our news department contacted Arkport Village Mayor Carson Doorley this morning on this topic. Doorley tells us he’s working on preventing solar as well as data centers, from being set up inside the village limits. “Absolutely not, if I can prevent it,” Doorley tells WLEA News. He says Arkport Village Hall has plans for a ban on solar and they’re working on preventing a data center from coming to the village as well. “In Arkport, we are currently putting in place, a moratorium to prevent a data center from being able to come into Arkport. We’re also putting in a ban on solar to prevent solar from coming into Arkport as well. Being from this area, I’m very passionate about preserving the right to a farm community like we have in Arkport and I’ll everything that I can to make sure it stays that way,” Doorley said this morning in a phone call with WLEA News.
