Arkport School Board Prez – Speaks Out During Public Comment

December 12, 2024

Last night at the Arkport Board of Education meeting, when it came to public comment, School Board President Pat Flaitz stood up from his seat, and went over and sat down with the public. Flaitz then said that an Arkport Central teacher had been rude, and “disparaged” a student. Flaitz also said that schools were supposed to be safe spaces. Flatiz stated, that the school was protecting this teacher. Flaitz finished by saying, he was going to talk about this at every school board meeting until something was done about it. School Superintendent Jesse Harper asked at least two people who were sitting with the public, to stay for the executive session.

FROM ARKPORT CENTRAL SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT JESSE HARPER: “The Board of Education recognizes the importance of public comment at Board meetings and welcomes all members of the public to participate in the public comment period in accordance with the District’s policies. It is also important to note that views and opinions expressed in the public comment period are those of the individuals speaking and do not necessarily represent the views of the Board and District.”
