Arkport, NY – Arkport Village Mayor Charlie Flanders received some good news from Albany Monday. The village will be on the receiving end of a $799,250 grant for the water transmission lines and the main lines throughout the village. “It was a total surprise,” said Flanders, “We originally asked for $100,000 some years back and to receive eight times that was a shock.”
The big question now for the board is can they deduct the grant money from the original $1.6 million loan they already procured, since they now anticipate needing less money. This is the second grant the village has applied for with Christine Crafts, with first being for $750,000. The village has also applied for a bridge grant and that is still a waiting game hopefully with the same outcome.
