Avoca Man Is Accused Of Starting Avoca House On Fire

AVOCA, NY – Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on March 28, 2021, investigators and deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Donald J. Kennedy, age 48, of Lysycyn Road, Avoca, New York, following an investigation of a reported fire in a residence on Lysycyn Road. It is alleged that Mr. Kennedy intentionally damaged a residence by starting it on fire. It is also alleged that Mr. Kennedy was ordered to stay away from that residence by a duly served Order of Protection. It is also alleged that Mr. Kennedy failed to obey a term or condition of his probation. Mr. Kennedy was charged with Arson in the Second Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a class E Felony, and Violation of Probation. Mr. Kennedy was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail due to the violation of probation warrant, as well as in lieu of bail in the amount of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
