CANISTEO, NY – There was an accident in Canisteo in the 9:00pm hour on Monday night. Canisteo Police Sgt. Giglio tells us that a 38 year old Canisteo woman was hit by a truck and went under the truck. That was at the intersection of Main and Depot, in the Village of Canisteo.
Officials do not know her current condition, though we do know she underwent surgery late last night/early this morning, at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The driver was not injured, but was said to be visibly shaken by the incident. No charges at this point are being made, and the investigation continues.
Canisteo Police were assisted by Canisteo Ambulance, Hornell Fire/Ambulance and State Police.
Also the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office handled reconstruction of the accident.
