Bath Man Pleaded Guilty To Manslaughter, In Fatal Heroin Overdose Case

STEUBEN COUNTY, NY – Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker reports that Matthew Taft, 37, Bath, has pleaded guilty to 2nd degree manslaughter. Taft was accused of selling Joshua Rowe of Bath, Fentanyl-laced Heroin, causing Rowe’s death, in August 2017.

Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker who says that these sorts of overdoses are going to be treated like crimes, not accidents. “What these people are selling is deadlier than before,” Baker stated. “They need to know that in Steuben County, we are doing everything we can to make the cost of selling those drugs, higher than before.”

Taft will get 5 to 15 years when sentenced by Steuben County Judge McAllister on July 24.
