Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker reports that 51 year old Larry Schoonover of Bath, has been indicted on the following charges, for the standoff in Bath on August 20:
1st degree attempted murder, 2nd degree attempted murder, 1st degree criminal use of a firearm, 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon, 1st degree reckless endangerment, 3rd degree assault.
“It’s alleged that he knew that people (he was shooting at) were police officers, that they were doing their duty and that he tried to kill them,” County District Attorney Brooks Baker said. “The fact that there were not injuries of police officers, was not for lack of Larry Schoonover trying.”
Schoonover is accused of trying to kill 12 police officers from the New YorK State Police, Bath Village Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, during a standoff in Bath.
