The Elkland Moose Family Center 746 has generously donated a Braille American flag to the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System, marking a historic moment as the facility becomes the first in New York State to receive such an honor.
The Braille flag, now proudly displayed at the Bath VA Medical Center, is part of the American Braille Flag Project, a national initiative to ensure that visually impaired Veterans and visitors can experience the symbol of our nation in a tactile and inclusive way.
A special ceremony was held to commemorate the installation of the flag. Among the attendees were the VA Finger Lakes Assistant Medical Center Director, Visual Impairment Coordinator, Center for Development and Civic Engagement, VA Fire and Police officials, members of the Elkland Moose Family Center, and the 2025 Elkland Moose Riders president.
“This flag is more than just a symbol—it’s a statement of inclusion, respect, and commitment to honoring all Veterans,” said Bruce Tucker, VA Finger Lakes Executive Director. “We are grateful for the contributions of the Elkland Moose Family Center, supporting the diverse needs of those who served.”
