Betty H. Walker, of Hornell

HORNELL-Betty H. Walker, 96, of Parrish Road, passed away early Saturday afternoon (Nov. 18, 2017) at Elderwood at Hornell, where she has resided the past four months.

Born in North Hornell on Sept. 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Harriett (Felix) Hubert. On Oct. 11, 1947, she was married in Hornell to Norman K. Walker, who predeceased her on Aug 6, 2007 after nearly 60 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Lucille Croston and Harriett Bradley.

A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Betty was a graduate of Hornell High School, class off 1938. At one time she resided in Geneva, N.Y. for about six years and was employed by the Department of the Army in Romulus. Later she began her 22-year career as an administrative assistant for the Hornell City School District in the Guidance Dept. at the former Hornell Junior High School and retired in 1983 from the Hornell Senior High School.

Betty also devoted her life to her family and always stated that the most important event in her life was giving birth to her two children.

Throughout the years she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornell and the Hornell Fortnightly Club.

Her loving family includes her daughter, Marguerite Walker of South Portland, Maine; her son, Paul Walker of Hornell; her two grandchildren, Bonnie (Michael) Rosensteel of Houston, Tex. and Brian Wellington also of Houston, Tex.; her sister, Rosamond (Rosie) Ordway of Bath; as well as her nieces and nephews.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Betty H. Walker.

To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
