FROM THE SHERIFF: Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on October 2, 2024, deputies and investigators arrested Robert E. Freeman, age 27, of Church Street, Canaseraga, New York, following an investigation of a reported robbery and assault in the Town of Dansville in September 2024. It is alleged that Mr. Freeman forcibly stole property from another person, intentionally injured another person, illegally used and possessed a weapon, and acted in concert with at least two other people. Mr. Freeman was charged with Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, Gang Assault in the Second Degree, a class C Felony, Robbery in the First Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, a class B Felony, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E Felony and Conspiracy in the Third Degree, a class E Felony. Mr. Freeman was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 property bond.
