Canisteo And Other Fire Dept’s, Help Get A Fire Under Control In Cameron

CAMERON, NY – From Canisteo Fire Chief Don Lewis: “At 17:26 last night Canisteo Engine 14 and Tanker 46 was requested to Cameron fire district for the working structure fire. All Canisteo units were back in service 22:00. TYhere were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

From Steuben County Public Safety Director Tim Marshall: “Cameron Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Chimney Fire on Bald Hill Road Sunday Afternoon at around 5:30. Upon arrival, Cameron Assistant Fire Chief found the fire extending into the structure. Mutual Aid was provided by Addison, Bath, Campbell, Canisteo, Gang Mills, Thurston and Woodhull fire departments. Cold temperatures made the fire difficult to fight. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.”

From Bath Volunteer Fire Dept Spokesperson John Conrad: “A fire in a house that started as a chimney fire and worked its way into a structure fire, unknown how many occupants in the home, but everybody got out safely. No losses in the fire, no injuries. Red cross was called for assistance.”
