Canisteo-Greenwood Gym Just About Ready For Use

October 15, 2014

CANISTEO, NY – Labella Associates gave a presentation to the Canisteo BOE Tuesday evening to update and answer questions on the 6.8 million dollar capital project currently taking place.

Representatives told board members that the project was a little behind schedule and the only major work that remains is on the cafeteria. The project should wrap up in mid November. School Superintendent Jeremy Palotti was excited to announce that the decking on the gym roof at the high school has been completed and will be open for use early next week. Also a resolution was passed approving an additional $100,000 for repairs to the gym roof that were unforeseen during the bidding.

Although enrollment is slightly down, Palotti explained that the Canisteo-Greenwood school district is one of the few districts in the area to hold steady in enrollment numbers and not be losing students.

In other news, high school principal Michael Wright announced that the first marking period ends Friday and parents should be expecting report cards shortly after. He also expressed enthusiasm about the football team this year and stated that it will be a big game in the season final against Avon this Friday.  The winner will advance to the sectionals.
