Canisteo-Greenwood School Superintendent Tom Crook says that the Canisteo-Greenwood Elementary School Gym is being worked on now. The Elementary School Gym work should be done by September. The work on the playground there might start, weather depending, on May 18. Work on the athletic fields will start sometime after that.
There are two open seats and four candidates running for the Canisteo-Greenwood School Board on May 19 : incumbents Mike Nisbet and Michael Lehman, and Laura Cone Lewis and Jessica Mullen. The budget is a $32,588,297 dollar budget. There is a 1 percent increase in taxes. There are four propositions to vote on this year. Prop #1 is teh budget itself, Prop #2 is to use $450,000 for the bus reserves, Prop #3 Canisteo-Greenwood starts up another bus reserve, Prop #4 giving $145,000 to the Wimodausian Library and $43,000 to the Canisteo-Greenwood Reading Center. Also, School Board President Mike Nisbit is thanking the CG unions for coming up with health insurance plans, which the school system can afford.
School Superintendent Tom Crook says there is not a huge tax increase because of eight school employee resignations and the school district is filling empty positions internally with current staff members.
