Fire department negotiations continue between the Canisteo Village Hall, and Canisteo Town Hall and Hartsville Town Hall. Canisteo Village Hall handles the Canisteo Village Fire Department’s contracts and village officials say that so far, only Hartsville has gotten back to the Canisteo Village Board.
Canisteo officials say that Hartsville’s Town Board, does not want to pay an increase in this latest contract. As a result, Canisteo Village Hall officials say that they will proposed to Hartsville the following: a zero percent increase this time, then a three percent increase next year and a three percent increase the year after.
Negotiations also continue between Canisteo Village officials and Hornell Mayor john Buckley who wants a contract from the Village of Canisteo and other local towns and villages, that Hornell provides ambulance service to. Mayor Monica Recktenwald says that Mayor Buckley is offering some options to the village of Canisteo, including full and partial ambulance service. Canisteo Mayor Recktenwald says, Canisteo is waiting for more details from Hornell, before making a final decision.
