CANISTEO, NY – Canisteo Village Police Chief Kyle Amidon reports that a 24 year old from Pine City, was arrested Thursday night, after a chase on foot on Russell Street. According to Chief Amidon, when Canisteo Police pulled over Zachary Savage, he jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot. “Savage was quickly located in a nearby backyard, and refused to cooperate with law enforcement,” Amidon said. The police chief also states that while Savage attempted to dispose of the drugs on him, he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, methamphetamines and a large amount of cash.
“Chief Amidon would also like to remind Canisteo residents that Canisteo Police Officers work hard and long hours to keep drugs out of the village, and will continue to investigate and arrest those individuals, bringing narcotics into the community,” Canisteo Police stated this morning.
Police Chief Amidon is thanking State Police, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the Canisteo Ambulance Crew for their assistance in this case.
