On Saturday December 14th, Officers of the Canisteo Village Police Department will be having an event called “Shop with a Cop” at the Hornell Wal-Mart. Officers from the Canisteo Village Police Department will team up with Officers of the Hornell City Police Department and shop with several children from the area to purchase items for their loved ones, family and themselves. We are hopes to continue this tradition for the following years to give back to our communities. This year the two departments have raised money in various ways including a large donation from the Canisteo Police Club, grants through Wal-Mart along with donations from a Facebook group labeled Running on Empty and donations raised from the officers in various ways including “No Shave November/December.” This event is hosted by the Hornell Wal-Mart and employees will assist with wrapping and cashing out the children. The Canisteo and Hornell Police Departments are going to continue to work together on this project each year.
