FROM CANISTEO VILLAGE HALL: The Village of Canisteo has received grant funding from Empire State Development (ESD) to undertake a comprehensive downtown revitalization planning project focused on enhancing economic vitality, improving public spaces, and supporting long-term community resilience. Centered on Main Street and the surrounding commercial district, the project will assess existing conditions, identify redevelopment opportunities, and engage community stakeholders to develop a shared vision for the future of downtown Canisteo.
The project is expected to result in a detailed Downtown Revitalization Plan that includes actionable projects, conceptual designs, and implementation strategies aligned with regional goals.
The total project cost is $80,000 and requires a 50/50 funding match. In addition to the CFA funding, the Village of Canisteo is awaiting award notifications for its ARC grant application to cover the required match. The Village’s goal is to secure both funding sources in order to move forward with a full, comprehensive downtown revitalization plan without any financial impact on Village tax dollars.
