At the Monday night, February 9 Canisteo Town Hall meeting, it was announced that engineering firm JM Davison was chosen to do FEMA repairs for the Town. Also, the Canisteo town board signed a letter of support of the Steuben county getting funding to assist the supplemental EMS crews. The supplemental EMS crews are already helping now in Canisteo town but want to have a full time Canisteo Town EMS crew.
The town board is looking to create the position of Secretary of the town supervisor. Town supervisor Joe Harrington says that much of the pay will come from FEMA because the secretary is doing a lot of paperwork for FEMA forms. Town board member Gary Thompson said the board should get a list of Secretary duties from town attorney William Thew. The issue was tabled until next month.
In Canisteo-Greenwood School news, this year’s budget is a $30 million dollar CG school budget. School HR Officer Paul Cone says, the state foundation aid is going to be $23,855,000. That’s an increase of almost $1,000,000. Also, Canisteo-Greenwood School Board President Mike Nesbit is encouraging people to attend upcoming budget workshops.
Cone also says, there are three P.I.L.O.T.’S for the Canisteo-Greenwood School District. One comes from wind (which is currently delayed, likely while wind officials wait for Washington DC policy decisions to be made). Another form of payment in lieu of taxes is solar. The third form of payment in lieu of taxes for Canisteo-Greenwood, is from the Arlington gas company, and their storage wells in the Adrian/Cameron area.
