The Canisteo Town Board voted this week to move $50,000 of FEMA money from the general funds into the highway fund. That’s because of all the overtime workers are putting in to do clean up from work related to the August 9 flooding.
Also, Canisteo Village Hall officials say, the department of public works is still working on cleaning out storm drains, and officials say, there is not enough storm drains. The Village board is going to continue to look at ways to get funding to improve the current system and get a study done on this subject.
Mayor Monica Recktenwald discussed this storm drain issue with Governor Kathy Hochul, when Hochul came to Canisteo on August 11th.
