Car Chase In Bath

BATH, NY – From Bath Village Police Chief Chad Mullen:

On March 30th, 2018 at approximately 9:00 pm a Member of the Bath Village Police Department observed a white ford pick-up truck travelling erratically along streets in the Village. Members attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and a vehicle pursuit occurred. The suspect vehicle exited the village limits at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle in the rear that was travelling in the same direction near Lake Salubria. Both vehicle sustained heavy damage. The suspect identified as Harley S. Lyon 21 YOA of 5257 County Route 125 Campbell, NY was air lifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. The Occupants of the vehicle struck, Daniel Wurzer 19 YOA from Bath NY and Blake Thomas 19 YOA of Alexandria VA were transported to Corning Hospital where they were treated and released.
Harley Lyon was arraigned in Savona Village Court on charges of Reckless Endangerment 1st a class D Felony and unlawfully fleeing a Police Officer in a motor vehicle 3rd a class A Misdemeanor. He was remanded to Steuben County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He is due to appear in Bath Village Court on April 4th with further charges pending.
Village Police were assisted by members of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Bath Fire Department and the Bath Ambulance service.
