Jean Alexin – Center – Along with Many Family Members Celebrate her 100th Birthday
HORNELL, NY – A special celebration was held Saturday morning at the Elderwood Nursing Facility for special resident Jean Alexin, who just turned 100.
Hornell Mayor John Buckley along with Deputy Mayor Jessica Cleveland held a proclamation and gifted Alexin with a key to the city. Many friends and family turned out for her birthday celebration.
Originally of Italian ancestry, Alexin was born 1918 in Jamaica, Long Island and moved to Hornell at a very early age. She met and married John Alexin in 1940 after growing up in the same neighborhood. Aside from raising her family, Mrs Alexin worked at a nursing facility and later Marion Rohr where she retired from. Alexin raised three children with her husband John, who was employed by the railroad for many years.
