Dear CG Community Members,
Over the past few years, I’ve taken great pride in supporting our student-athletes and school spirit by covering the cost of admission for our home spectators during Sectional contests. It was a small way to help ensure that our families, friends, and fans could be there to cheer on our students without added financial burden.
Unfortunately, following a recent audit by the New York State Comptroller’s Office, I’ve been advised that this practice constitutes a gift of public funds, which is not allowed under state regulations. As a result, I’ve been asked to discontinue this tradition moving forward.
I want to be transparent in saying that I’m not thrilled about the rising ticket prices and the exclusive use of digital ticketing platforms mandated by Section V. These changes have made it harder for some members of our community to attend and support our students, and I share in that frustration.
Despite this setback, our commitment to our students and community remains strong. We’ll continue to look for ways to make our events welcoming and accessible, and I appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes together.
