HORNELL, NY – Hornell Mayor John Buckley acknowledged another ambitious and hardworking city employee Thursday morning in Water Treatment Plant operator Josh Scialpa.
Scialpa, who started his career as a mechanic for the plant, has now been promoted to operator after completion of numerous exams. He initially was hired to replace a retired worker, but has quickly picked up the trade and done everything required for advancement at the plant.
Buckley commended Scialpa for his initiative to become a full-fledged operator after starting as a mechanic. “This award is well deserved,” said the Mayor, “He has done everything required to advance and that shows us something. I also take special pride in the fact that we worked as a team at Wegmans for a long time and I knew he was a top notch employee from way back.”
