Common Core Testing Begins Today

April 4, 2016

Today is Monday, April 4th, Common Core testing in schools begins today. In the Hornell School District, parents received a letter from Hornell Junior High Principal Ted Illi. The letter told parents that if their children decided to opt out of the state tests, that those students would have to take a school district created, grade appropriate assessment. Principal Illi’s letter was dated March 15th.
On Friday night, Congressman Tom Reed issued a statement saying that he supports parent’s right to have their kids opt out. In his statement Reed said he’s proud to stand up for parents and students who choose to do the opt-outs. Reed’s letter did not mention the recent Hornell School policy.
