This week, Congress was back in session, advancing critical legislation ranging from safeguarding home appliances against left-wing overregulation to implementing vital reforms in domestic mineral production. One of the most important bills passed by the House this week was the Equal Representation Act, which will add a citizenship question to the census and ensure that only citizens are represented in Congress and the Electoral College.
Right now, illegal immigrants are counted in the population when forming Congressional districts and in the number of votes given to each state in the Electoral College. This is extremely alarming at a time when our nation is grappling with a border crisis, and our state has become a haven for troves of illegal immigrants.
It’s clear that Democrat leaders in New York State, Congress, and the White House have turned their back on lawful Americans, choosing instead to roll out the red carpet for illegal immigrants with housing, clothing, and financial incentives all paid for by American taxpayers.
Through this process, we’re learning that it’s a calculated effort to boost their own political power by inflating their population counts and skewing Congressional representation. We’re talking about millions of people who are not American citizens having a major say in our elections.
They’re not even hiding it anymore! One of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, who represents downstate New York in this body, openly called for more illegal immigration to her district because she said she, quote, “needs more people in her district for redistricting purposes.”
This absurd notion pushed by the radical left—that these non-citizens should shape the future of our nation—is completely unconstitutional. They are corroding the essence of American citizenship, turning it into a political commodity.

This week, the House Oversight Committee also launched a new investigation into the Biden Administration’s reprehensible decision to withhold munitions that were being sent to Israel. I was shocked and disgusted to hear that President Biden is purposefully withholding our arms shipment to Israel as they’re fighting to defend their right to exist.
At a time when Israel is under assault, facing attacks from Hamas and Iran, the decision to withhold these critical munitions is not just a failure; it’s a betrayal of our greatest ally in the Middle East, and it goes directly against the will of Congress and the will of the people. We need to send a message to the world that America will not falter in our commitment to our allies. I’ve urged President Biden to do the right thing and send these munitions to Israel — read the full letter signed by members of the Oversight Committee here.
