Congressman Nick Langworthy’s Weekly Newsletter, March 9, 2025

More than 36 million Americans tuned in to watch President Trump deliver his first Joint Address to Congress during his second term on Tuesday evening. I was honored to be seated on the House floor to hear the President’s remarks live where he laid out an inspiring vision for the future of our nation. I can say confidently that under the Trump Administration, we are witnessing the renewal of the American Dream.

As President Trump said, he is moving at a swift and unrelenting pace. In just under two months, we can see that the state of the Union is on a path back to strength. President Trump’s speech was exactly what the American people needed to hear, highlighting the very best of our country. The Trump administration has successfully shut down border crossings, with record low attempted crossings in February and ICE arrests have increased over 600% since the last administration. He has also secured over $1.7 trillion in manufacturing investments and cut bureaucratic red tape that is hurting job creation. We are also back on the path to energy independence, with many energy companies announcing an increase in production.

Amid all these uplifting stories and statistics, I was appalled by Democrats’ reprehensible conduct during the address. Not only did one member have to be removed from the chambers for disruptive behavior, many more walked out while the President honored a child battling terminal cancer, Laken Riley’s grieving family, and hero Corey Comperatore’s wife and daughters. They proved their hatred for President Trump is more important than honoring fellow Americans who have suffered great adversity.

I take my job as your Representative very seriously, and when Joe Biden was President, even though I didn’t agree with his policies, I showed him the respect that the office of the United States Presidency deserves. The proof is in the numbers—the American people overwhelmingly approved of President Trump’s speech by a margin of 76 percent and a whopping 80 percent said the interruption was inappropriate.

This is a profound moment in American history where I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to deliver lasting and meaningful change for our nation. The policies laid out in President Trump’s speech were common sense, all rooted in the belief that there is nothing Americans can’t do when our country is safe, strong, and free.

I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the hardworking residents of Western New York and the Southern Tier. My door is always open, and my motto remains: “there is no problem too big, and no problem too small.”
