Last week, Congress was back in session, and House Republicans are wasting no time preparing for the new year to deliver on the America First agenda under President Donald Trump. The American people have made their voices clear: it’s time to end the Biden-Harris-Schumer era of reckless spending, weak leadership, and policies that hurt families and undermine our nation’s strength.
On Wednesday, we met with President Trump to lay out an ambitious plan for his first 100 days in office. The focus is on bold, decisive action to restore America’s greatness — from securing the border and curbing illegal immigration to jumpstarting energy independence and fighting inflation. Together, we’re ready to tackle the challenges left behind by the failed Democrat leadership in Washington and deliver results for hardworking Americans.
We also unanimously re-elected Speaker Mike Johnson to lead the House Republican Conference, along with a leadership team committed to getting the job done. Speaker Johnson has proven himself as a principled and effective leader, and under his guidance, we’ll turn these plans into reality. With this team in place and a clear mission ahead, the House is ready to help usher in a golden age for America.
I had the opportunity to join Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business to discuss our plans for the next Congress, the preparations for the Presidential transition, and the latest on New York’s lawfare against President Trump:
As the House returned to regular business, we passed legislation to improve government efficiency, strengthen national security, and bring greater transparency to the American people. One of the key measures was the Federal Acquisition Security Council Improvement Act, which enhances our ability to block foreign adversaries, like those linked to China, from accessing federal supply chains. By excluding bad actors from procurement processes and federal systems, this bill strengthens our defenses at a time when cybersecurity threats are more serious than ever.
We also passed the Eliminate Useless Reports Act, a common-sense move to cut down on waste. Federal agencies are required to produce thousands of reports each year, many of which are outdated or duplicative. This bill directs agencies to audit these requirements and recommend eliminating unnecessary reports, saving time and taxpayer dollars while streamlining government operations.
On election transparency, the Vote By Mail Tracking Act takes an important step to ensure confidence in the process by requiring mail-in ballots to include a USPS barcode for tracking. Voters will now be able to see where their ballot is at every stage, bringing much-needed accountability to our election system.
Finally, we passed the FAFSA Deadline Act, which moves up the release of federal student aid forms to October 1, giving families more time to understand their financial aid options and make informed decisions about college. This is a simple yet impactful change to make life easier for millions of students and parents.
This week marked another step toward making government work better for the American people. From securing our supply chains and protecting critical systems to cutting waste and bringing transparency to elections, we’re delivering meaningful results that make a difference. Whether it’s helping students and families plan for the future or ensuring taxpayers see accountability in government operations, I’m committed to advancing policies that put you first.
As always, my door is open — no problem is too big, and no problem is too small. If you’re having an issue with a federal agency, or just want to share your comments and concerns, call my office at (716)-547-6844 or send me a message through my website.
Sincerely,
Rep. Nicholas A. Langworthy
