Congressman Reed Hopes That Washington Can Supercede Albany On Fracking

December 19, 2014

ALBANY, NY – This morning on the Fred Dicker Show on Talk 1300 Radio in Albany, Congressman Tom Reed called the governor “King Cuomo”, and Reed spoke of how there are precedents for Washington superceding state rules when it comes to national issues.  Reed speculated that this could be possible with hydrofracking, which was banned in New York State earlier this week.

(Reed comes on the show, 29 minutes in, and the conversation about Washington and Albany starts at 38 minutes in.)

Update: 2:35pm – We spoke with State Senator George Winner, who says if it ever happened that Washington pre-empted the state’s rights on hydrofracking, it would have to be done by federal law (the House and Senate, and signed by the President).
