HORNELL, NY – St. James Hospital announced today that 7.5 million came through from the state government, and that there will be about 460 employees working at the new independent St. James. Hospital officials also say that 72 employees will lose their jobs.

Congressman Tom Reed is currently travelling, but we spoke with his chief of staff Tim Kolpien. “It’s a great thing for the community and Congressman Reed was glad to play a role in preserving health care options in the Hornell area,” said Kolpien. “He was pleased to be a part of the team effort that included Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan, Deputy Mayor John Buckley, State Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Bill Nojay, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Assemblyman Joe Giglio.”

Reed’s office also says that they stand ready to help all of those who unfortunately, may be facing a layoff.
