FROM THE N.Y.S.D.O.T.: The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Route 417 from Hardy Road in the Town of Jasper to State Route 248 in the Town of Greenwood, Steuben County, will be reduced to a single lane, with alternating flows of traffic controlled by flaggers, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily starting Tuesday, September 8, to accommodate a pavement project. Work is anticipated to be complete by Saturday, September 12, weather permitting. Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if possible. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
ALSO FROM THE D.O.T.: The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the ramp to the Interstate 86 westbound service road in the Village of Riverside, Steuben County, will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, September 9, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., to accommodate guiderail repairs. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour utilizing Buffalo Street, State Route 415 and Hamilton Street. Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.
