The Dansville Gliders snapped the Hornell Steamers winning streak with a 3-1 victory on Monday afternoon. The Steamers fall to 9-6 on the year.
Dansville got on the board in the 2nd when Cooper Berry walked and came around to score on a two-run homer to right field by Justin Colpack.
Alex Dupuy (LSU Eunice) cut the lead in half in the 3rd when he blasted a solo homer to right center.
The game remained 2-1 until the 6th when Berry collected a RBI single.
Hornell had chances throughout the day but couldn’t capitalize. They stranded eight runners on base. Dupuy, Elijah Nichols (Arkansas State), Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice), and Rustin Pope (Coastal Alabama North CC) each collected one hit.
Evan Mello allowed just three hits and one run in five innings of work to earn the win. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out seven. Justin Hernandez earned the save with four shutout innings. He allowed just one hit and four walks while recording four strikeouts.
Wes Carter (Webster) pitched well as he went the distance. In his eight innings he allowed three runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out six.
