Dems Keep Slamming Zeldin Over Signatures

Sadly, this is not an Onion headline. New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin, whose campaign is at the center of a criminal investigation for attempting to commit election fraud, continues to spread falsehoods about the 2020 election on the campaign trail.

In a new PoliticsNY interview, Lee Zeldin defended his January 6th vote to overturn the 2020 presidential election results by repeating a baseless election conspiracy theory. The Times Union recently dismissed Zeldin’s assertions as “unfounded” and “debunked.”

“At the same time Lee Zeldin continues to push baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, his campaign is also under a criminal investigation for attempting to defraud New York voters,” said New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs. “Zeldin’s hypocrisy would be comical if it wasn’t so dangerous to our democracy. What’s clear is that New Yorkers must reject Zeldin’s brand of MAGA extremism this November.”

According to a bombshell Times Union report, the Albany County District Attorney’s office and the New York State Board of Elections are “moving forward with [an] investigation focusing on duplicate signatures submitted in nominating petitions on behalf of gubernatorial candidate U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin.”

This summer, the New York State Board of Elections rejected Lee Zeldin’s petition to get on the Independence Party line, citing more than 11,000 fraudulent photocopied signatures that Zeldin’s own campaign manager signed off on.
