Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on July 15, 2021, Deputy Brooke Payne of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, was sworn in as a Criminal Investigator. Investigator Payne is an eleven year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has served as an instructor, physical training instructor, field training officer, car seat technician, Emergency Medical Technician, on the bicycle patrol team, the Safe Harbor CSEC team, and has attended the undercover narcotics investigations course, animal cruelty investigation course, and assisted in many investigations.
Investigator Payne’s swearing in was attended by members of her family and co-workers. “There is no doubt in my mind that she will continue to exhibit the professionalism and dedication in her new role that has been a hallmark of her work as a deputy” said Sheriff Allard. “I look forward to witnessing her continued growth in her career”. Investigator Payne joins the Criminal Investigations Unit and will complete her field training in that capacity.
