Downstate GOP Group, Speaks Out Against Dems, Possibly Throwing Out Judge McAllister’s Congressional Maps

December 12, 2023

FROM STOP NY CORRUPTION:
The new statewide organization, Stop NY Corruption (SNYC), held a Manhattan news conference at City Hall on Monday to educate New Yorkers about a shameless and corrupt attempt to redraw the districts of the state’s congressional delegation.

Stop NY Corruption’s spokesperson, Bobbie Anne Cox, a Westchester County based attorney who specializes in constitutional law was joined by Lee Zeldin, Members of Congress Michael Lawller (NY-17) and Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11)), New York City Councilmen Joe Borelli (SI) and Robert Holden (Queens), and former congressman and candidate for governor, Lee Zeldin.

The legal action has been taken by the Elias Group, a Washington, DC law firm, on behalf of the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and calls for the Court of Appeals to throw out the current congressional districts that were drawn just last year by a court appointed non-partisan Special Master. A decision by the NYS Court of Appeals is expected to be handed down the near future.

Bobbie Anne Cox said, “We are trying to preserve competitive elections, we are trying to preserve civil rights in New York State, and we are trying to preserve democracy.”

Lee Zeldin said, “The Court of Appeals should not allow their institution to be abused and eroded. they should rule on the merits. They should defend the constitution and they should keep the current maps that are in place.”

Rep. Michael Lawler said, “The voters of New York State weighed-in on this a decade ago. They said they did not want gerrymandering. They wanted fair, honest maps and they wanted the people to choose who their representatives are, not the politicians and not the political parties.”

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis said, “It is so corrupt, it is such a slap in the face to the voters of New York.”

New York City Councilman Joe Borelli said, “This should upset every single voter in the State of New York who believes in the rule of law, believes in our state constitution and believes we’ve done a good job in reducing the power of the political bosses and political patronage in this state.”

New York City Councilman Robert Holden said, “As a life-long Democrat…50 years…I’ve been fed up with the whole system in New York State. Currently, we rank as one of the most politically corrupt states in the union. There’s a reason for that; gerrymandering has been done for decades.”
