Eleanor M. Crane, formerly of Canisteo

Canisteo-Eleanor M. Crane, 98, formerly of Union Street, passed away Tuesday (July 8, 2014) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell where she had resided for the past seven years.

Born in Corning, September 20, 1915, the daughter of Harrison and Mary Mocker Crane, she had resided in Canisteo all her life. Eleanor had served her country as a member of the WAVES, in the United States Navy from 1944-1945. She had been employed as a secretary for the Steuben County Highway Department from 1939 until her retirement in 1980.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Marion Roffman and her brother Harold Crane.

She is survived by her cousin, Doris Robbins of Horseheads.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo on Friday from 4 PM until 5 PM at which time military honors will be accorded followed by her funeral service with Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
