Fannie “Elaine” Savey, formerly of Jasper
JASPER, NY – Fannie E. “Elaine” Savey, 75, formerly of Jasper passed away Tuesday (April 15, 2014) at McAuley Manor where she had resided since 2009.
Elaine was born November 24, 1938 In Hornell to Leland and Anna (Whipple) Wade. On December 1, 1956 she married Charles “Chuck” Savey who predeceased her in June 2010. She was also predeceased by a daughter Kathy Savey in July of 2004.
Elaine was a graduate of Jasper Central School and a lifelong resident of the Jasper area. Being a home maker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook, bake, sew and do needle point and also loved to quilt. In her early years she could be found in the vineyards of Pulteney every spring and fall where she tied and picked grapes.
Elaine is survived by one son: Donald Savey of Rancho Cordova, CA., three daughters: Darla (Robert) Naples of Bath, Shelia (Kyle) Flint of Jasper and Pamela Savey (Robert Jones) of Savona, 7 grand children: Michelle (Matthew) Winter, Nicole Combs (Ronald Corey), Kylie and Alexis Flint, Robert L. Jones, III, Rebekka Jones and Justin Jones, 3 great grandchildren: Dylan and Isabella Winter and Mason Corey. Elaine is also survived by two brothers: Edwin Wade of Troupsburg, Carroll (Carrie Sue) Wade of Jasper, four sisters: Leah Vitale of Piffard, Carolyn Sutton of Canadaigua, Janette Fish of Painted Post and Linda (Gerald) Weaver of Piffard and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 PM Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 5:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
