ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY – Several people sustained injuries in an early morning apartment house fire at 128 Scott Avenue in the village of Wellsville. Sirens sounded around 5 a.m. Fire crews responded from Wellsville, Scio, Willing, Andover and Alfred Station, while ambulances were brought in from Wellsville Andover and Amity.
Those who were transported to the hospital mostly suffered from smoke inhalation. Wellsville police, who were first on the scene, immediately began evacuating residents. Mutual aid units began clearing the scene at 6:30 A.M. fire investigators remained at the scene to determine the cause.
