FROM THE CANISTEO FIRE COMPANY: At 8:49 PM, we were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the town of Canisteo, upon arrival a working fire was confirmed and additional resources from North Hornell Fire, Howard Fire, Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, and Cameron Fire were called to assist. Canisteo FD was back in service around 2:00AM, the cause of the fire is currently unknown. A huge thank you to our neighboring departments. As well as the bystanders who took it upon themselves to bring coffee to the crews on scene to help combat the below freezing temperatures.
Updat 10:57am – Canisteo Fire Chief Don Lewis tells us it was a house fire and that one person suffered burn injuries.
